The Nike Chosen series came over to the Portes du Soleil last week for a visit to the Chatel snowpark for a slopestyle jam session during which Nike are scouting out the next unsigned ripped amateurs.
Mint crew member Lewis Sonvico headed over for a play date with other Morziners, Sean Tumelty and Rob Cartledge. A great day was had and all sorts of stunts and carcass chucking was going down. With rad results Lewis qualified for the finals in third place… but unfortunately he messed up in the finals, came home to the Dutchess with nothing and he’s been grounded for the week!!!
Check out the video to see what they got up to (boom, Lewis did get the thumbnail picture!):

Fashion photographer and filmmaker Jacob Sutton has teamed up with Brit rider, and Mint shred buddy, Will Hughes for a film/photo shoot with a bit of a twist. This electrifying short film sees Will shredding the slopes of Tignes by night lit up in a custom built suit, created by designer and electronics whizz John Spatcher, that completely covers him from head to toe in LEDs. Awesome!

As everyone should know by now, this is Europe’s winter for big snowfall and we have indeed been making the most of it! The latest off-piste snowboard adventure from the Mint team was a hike up the Tête du Géant (2228m), in Pré la Joux, Chȃtel, to ride a fantastic couloir starting just below the summit. The couloir, visible from the ‘Les Combes’ chairlift in Linga, is north facing, about 250 m in length, 45 – 50̊ steep & very narrow in parts… just what we like!
Here are some photos to tell the tale:

It is great to be getting kids into the sport at a younger age and proving that the old wives tales, preaching that you must be 8 years or older to snowboard, are nothing but false! We have a full fleet of mini kids Burton snowboard equipment, with snowboards starting at 80 cm, and recently we have been making the most of it!
Daisy, age 8, and Mila, age 6, Blackwell spent a week having lessons with Mint instructor Dave Gladwin (aka Mr Mint), forming the new snowboard posse ‘Team Snowflake‘. This is what their dad David had to say: ‘Amazing job by Dave, the girls had a great time, improved faster than we could have ever imagined (thanks to all Dave’s ingenious tips) and just loved the whole experience. I can’t recommend you guys highly enough, we are very proud and happy parents.’
The next new snowboard team to be formed was ‘Team Shred‘, when Mint instructor Tammy headed over to Chamonix to teach the McNab girls, Manon, age 7, & Loren, age 4, and their friends Izzie, age 9, & Maddy, age 6. The Les Houches ski area is perfect for mini-shredders and a great place to introduce the littler ones to snowboarding! Big smiles all round!
Check out some very cute pictures of mini-shred as well as a funny video clip of 4 year old Loren’s first go on a snowboard!

“Well that was fun… had a little skate then off to the Burton Hi5 2011 at Hemel Freestyle and ended up coming 1st. Super stoked! Followed by a rad night out in watty with the lads and then a skate to finish off. Good times.“
We hope you agree, that’s a pretty impressive result for the final leg of the Burton Hi5 Tour, held at Hemel Hempstead Snow Centre last night. The Hi5 Tour has been hitting the UK fridges all autumn… nice one Lewis!
